The United States Mint releases the second of its three-Centennial Gold Coin Series, celebrating 100th Anniversary of American coinage. The 2016 Standing Liberty Quarters commemorates U.S. Mint sculptor Hermon A. MacNeil’s original “1916 Standing Liberty Quarter” design.

The obverse features a Lady Liberty holding a shield and olive branch guarding the gap in a wall and an eagle in flight with its wings well spread on the reverse. In 2016, the U.S. Mint will mark the centenary anniversary of three numismatic icons with the release of the Mercury Dime, Standing Liberty Quarter, and Walking Liberty Half Dollar Centennial Gold Coins.
