2016 Centennial Gold Coin – Mercury Dime SP-70 NGC (ER) (100th Anniversary Label)
The United States Mint releases the first of its three-Centennial Gold Coin Series, celebrating 100th Anniversary of American coinage. The 2016 Mercury Dime commemorates U.S. Mint sculptor Adolph A. Weinman’s original “1916 Winged Liberty Dime” design.
The obverse features a portrait of young Liberty wearing a winged cap, with the inscriptions “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and a Roman fasces and an olive branch, symbolizing America’s military readiness and desire for peace on the reverse.
In 2016, the U.S. Mint will mark the centenary anniversary of three numismatic icons with the release of the Mercury Dime, Standing Liberty Quarter, and Walking Liberty Half Dollar Centennial Gold Coins.
